| "Goldfinger" Road Race Set
Gilbert (1965). The Quintessential Bond collectable. Sold exclusively by Sears, Roebuck & Co. in their stores and in the 1965 Sears Christmas Wishbook, this magnificent set was made up of six interlocking panels which held all the scenery: Mountains, lakes, treacherous curves. even an oil slick! Bond's Aston-Martin raced against a red Mustang fastback, at one point in the course leaping a washed out bridge. Unfortunately the set was rushed into production in the orient and had loads of technical faults. Virtually all the sets were returned to Gilbert, who destroyed them. This major recall bankrupted the venerable 100+ year old Gilbert Toy Company. Complete roadrace sets are extremely scarce today. Any international customers interested in purchasing please contact for additional shipping arragements.
