The Rosetta Stone is a Ptolemaic era stele written with the same text in two Egyptian language scripts (hieroglyphic and demotic) and in classical Greek. It was created in 196 BC and discovered by the French in 1799 at Rosetta, a harbor on the Mediterranean coast in Egypt, and contributed greatly to the decipherment of the principles of Hieroglyphic writing.
The skill of reading Hieroglphs was lost until the discovery of this slab found at Rosetta. It now sits in the British Museum.
This is a great reproduction of the famous Rosetta Stone. This replica Rosetta Stone is very heavy & measures; 14 inches (35.56 centimeters) tall x 10.5 inches (26.67 centimeters) wide x .75 inches (1.905 centimeters) thick. It has a hook on the back so you can display on wall. It is painted black & antiqued so all three of the etched langauges can be read. each one painstakingly carved out of the original model. The Rosetta Stone is made out of a very durable Drystone material.
The Rosetta Stone comes complete with a framable certificate that explains the basic history of the artifact to the 21st century. It also comes with professionally aged copy of a 1859 newspaper article (see Picture). This is the date when the first complete translation of the text was published. This is also meant to be framed. Copies of the actual translation are also available as a option in the pull down menu.
