In Star Trek; Deep Space Nine, Gold Pressed Latinum is used as currency by many worlds, most notably the Ferengi Alliance. Latinum cannot be replicated and the reasons for its rarity are unknown.
Besides the largest amount or Brick there are four other amounts of this Ferengi Currency. The other denominations of Gold Pressed Latinum are shown in the picture above. In decreasing amounts of value from left to right they include the Bar, Ingot, Strip, and Slip.
Leeta (Chase Masterson) the Dabo Girl loves to lay on piles of this stuff and have her picture taken as in photo above! Ferengis also go wild over Latinum!!
Shown is a set of four Replica Gold Pressed Latinum pieces. Each piece was cast from a mold that was originally taken off a real prop piece. Each piece is made out of solid metal and is plated Gold with some antiquing where needed to have the symbols show better. The symbols are not printed but are carved into each piece. The backside of each piece is flat just as picture below shows. The measurements and weights of each piece are as follows:
The Bar is the largest value of the four shown. It is 4.5 inches long X 2.5 inches wide X .5 inches thick.
The Ingot is next in size after the Bar. It is 3.5 inches long X 1.75 inches wide X .5 inches thick.
After the Ingot is the Strip as seen here. It is 2.25 inches long X 1 inches wide X .25 inches thick.
Last is the Slip as shown. It is 1.75 inches long X .5 inches wide X .25 inches thick. All Four values are flat on the back as shown in the above picture.
